Pfeffernusse Cookie

Another traditional German Christmas cookie; popular in Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Pfeffernusse literally translates to “Pepper Nut”, and for good reason! Flavors of anise, black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and nutmeg take center stage. These cookies taste similar to gingerbread cookies, but with a lot more spice and a healthy coating of powdered sugar- resembling snowballs! Pfeffernusse are a unique treat and are especially delightful during the holiday season.
